Summer is barbecue season and it’s undeniable barbecue tastes really good especially when shared with friends by the pool or lake. Or just being in the backyard with family, it’s like the perfect thing to do. But, getting the right tenderness and taste of the barbecue can be challenging at times. Most people usually overcooked their meat or worse, it is so dry that it is so tough to chew.
Here’s my Filipino style chicken barbecue that is so tender and has a taste of home. By doing this, it takes me back to the Philippines where street food like barbecue is popular among Filipinos. How I made my barbecue so tender? Follow the steps below.
1. Cut up chicken breasts into cube size, fatty part removed.
2. For one big tray, use a can or a bottle of Sprite. Marinate and refrigerate all night.
3. Throw out the Sprite and try to drain as much as possible and then put seasoning like ground black pepper, soy sauce, whole lemon squeezed juice and vinegar, minced garlic and a sprinkle of magic sarap if available.
4. While on the grill, slowly brush with marinated sauce to keep it from drying. Flip over, another brush of its sauce.
5. When almost done, brush with tomato ketchup with a little bit of avocado oil. I prefer this oil because it’s healthy than the usual cooking oil.
6. Serve hot and enjoy!
I am a stay-at-home mom for over ten years now. Knowing I have not tried having a real job outside our home, you might think, I am being lazy. That is not the case. My husband is the only one who works for our family but we are doing pretty good, financial wise. I stay home this long because we got two girls to take care of and that to me is far more important than juggling being a mom and having a job. Seeing them grow and witness every milestone they achieved is such a privilege.
Anyway, let’s go to the topic why I am writing this entry today. Because, even though I am staying home, I have ways to earn a little bit of money while on my computer.
You guys ever heard of AdvoWire? I have been a member of this content/ads sharing site since December 2014 but did not really get serious with it until last year. For months of diligently sharing media contents on Twitter (my preferred social media), I have earned a $100.80 for it. Twice a day I am allowed to share contents with points which will then converted into monetary amount when the time is right.
I would suggest you should do it too especially if you are staying home to earn extra.
~~ Sign up HERE. Fill out all necessary information of yourself.
~~ Connect all your social media account and once you get approved, you can start sharing ad contents of your choice or depending which media you got the highest number of followers/friends.
~~ Once you share one time, don’t forget to get back to AdvoWire after 8 hours for another share. That’s it, then wait until your points accumulate for withdrawal.
If you frequent in this blog, you would know that I am a big Victoria’s Secret shopper. You would also know the reasons why as I keep writing them over and over again.
It’s the only store I buy my bras, perfumes/mists and lotions, and other stuff from. Last week, I was able to avail their glitch online. Buy 2 sport bras for $29.50 each and entered the promos “EDP4FREE” and the other one I forgot for free shipping. I paid $63 plus including tax and received my two full size bottle of perfumes that would have cost me $110 if I were to buy them in full price. Not only that, I also received .53 cents from Ebates cashback for shopping through their site before checking out Victoria’s Secret site.
I love the new collection of VS sport bra, small size fits me perfectly and the material they used is decent enough to last for long.
2 sport bras and two full size bottle of perfume do not come by often so when I saw it, I did not hesitate to avail the glitch. It’s something that I would always go for when it happens because you would pay more if you were to do this in store.
Besides, free perfume and free shipping codes often are not stackable codes if not for the glitch.
I am 32 at the moment yet I don’t let this number keep me from buying and wearing trendy tops. I don’t have a thin body nor a sexy bony-showing back but I love wearing open-back tops. It is because, in my mind and in my heart, I don’t feel 32.
I don’t get attracted to tops that look vintage or too oldie. No, if I wear those, it’s like I am declaring to the world that I am getting old, haha. Just my own opinion. No offense please.
Anyway, I am glad I now have this real cute open-back long sleeves from Amazon and it truly is comfortable. I could wear this every time I go to the mall or a dinner with my family if not for its neon pink color. I have dark skin tone and I get even darker if I wear this often.
It is a current trend and it’s even cuter when paired with the right bra. I saw other reviewers on Amazon posting photos of themselves fitting on this top wearing a cami, like ladies, seriously??
It is undeniable that my age is past the calendar number now, so I all I can do is at least take care of myself by exercising 2/3x a week if possible and take vitamins and supplements in order to delay the aging process and help support my immune system. I tell you what, I rarely get sick, except for seasonal allergies but other than that, I feel good, I feel healthy and most of all I don’t feel my age.
I have brittle nails, I do have natural smooth hair and no acne/pimple problems yet I am taking these vitamins pictured below. Two pink bottles by the way are for my girls. I feel these vitamins are working especially for my nails. They no longer chip easily and they grow fast.
Vitamins are expensive but if you are a wise shopper, you’ll find ways on getting them for low prices. Coupons and store sales are my way to afford these and be able to continue taking them as long as I live.
Mangoes and avocados are in season around this time of year. With that being said, buying them will not be too expensive plus you get the good quality with no bruises plus there are plenty of them everywhere. An example of this is the mangoes that we bought at the Asian market last weekend, there are 14 pieces in a box and cost us only $12.99 and they are big size mangoes. I bought two boxes of it and we still have some to last for a few days more.
Here’s what I did to some of the mangoes and avocados. I diced them, scoop out of the skin and put together in a bowl mixed with yogurt smoothie (a healthy alternative for sweet condensed milk), add some pecan nuts and sprinkled some paprika, VOILA! A healthful dessert I could eat. Hey, wait a minute, while for some it’s a dessert but to me, it was my dinner already.
It is pretty filling so I did not need to eat anything else after finishing all of it in one eating. I would be excited to make more of this later and indulge the food while it’s still available.
Nothing beats home cooked meals! I do that 99% of our meals and I know I’ve said that over and over again. I have been craving for chop suey – a Filipino dish loved by many. It’s a healthy dish that contains mostly vegetables and meat of your choice.
I cooked seafood flavor chop suey and it’s special for it has young corn and quail eggs which you will not commonly see in most chop suey. Also, I used a special ingredient to it, I used a squid Carved blanched pineapple cut for it which I bought from Hongkong Market in frozen section.
I love that I cooked it perfectly, so juicy and tasty that satisfied my craving. Thank God for such a delicious dish that filled our stomach.
If you want to try this out, go to www.panlasangpinoy.com for the recipe and replace the meat of your choice if you don’t like chicken. Make sure you don’t miss one secret ingredient that adds a flavorful taste to your chop suey, the oyster sauce!
After having two plates of this healthy vegetable dish, I served myself some shredded young coconut meat with nata de coco or coconut gel with corn kernels topped with purple yum ice cream picture below. Tell me if this does not make you drool?
If you follow this blog, you should have read the entry I wrote about how to get freebies from Victoria’s Secret. Here’s one of those freebies I just took advantage today at their store. Twelve full size bottles of mists and lotions plus a pair of undies for just under $5. How is that possible?
Well, it is very possible, just read on.
I have collected 6 secret reward cards in total throughout their giveaway days, 4 of which I got just by sending them stamps and envelopes in snail mail. 2 from shopping online and their store. Anyway, I bought these items pictured below because they are the cheapest I can see in their store right now, 2/$10. I used six secret reward cards worth $10 each and a free panty coupon that they sent me in the mail. Regular price of each bottle is $18.
$4.75 is the exact amount I paid today, that’s literally just taxes! All of these are just FREE!
You might be wondering what am I gonna do with all these? To answer your question, I am sending them all in a box to the Philippines for my family to enjoy or sell them there. I am one happy Victoria’s Secret shopper here!
I tell you what, I can go to the mall and not spending any dime for items I wear and use everyday, instead, bringing them home for free. Loyalty to one’s store pays off, once you become their loyal customer, rest assured, you will get many freebies ahead of you!
I don’t buy my panties anymore. Most of them are free from PINK by Victoria’s Secret. My bras are all PINK too, although I did not get them for free but at least, I got them at discounted items plus a whole lot more free stuff from them. Same goes with lotions from Bath and Body Works store. I have a couple of travel size BBW lotions free from them as well.
Here’s I do it.
1. Become a member by applying for a Victoria’s Secret or Pink credit card. You can apply in person at their store or online.
2. When you shop in-store, do not hesitate to provide your email and physical address so they can track your purchases and so they can send you brochures, coupons and other promos to your home address in the future.
3. The more you shop, the more you get coupons from them. Once you have your VS credit card, always swipe it for points. Certain points earned will be equivalent to certain reward card in the future when you reach the threshold they set for you.
4. Also, if you choose to shop online. Sign up on EBATES and search for your favorite store through their site to earn cashback when you check out successfully. First time members, receive $ too!
As for Bath and Body Works, it pretty much work the same way as Victoria’s Secret since they are sister companies only I don’t hold a BBW credit card but I do provide my email to them when they ask in store plus I have been a long time customer to this store so coupons arrive in our mailbox once in a while.
….. PINK panties and BBW lotion I got for free the other day with the use of coupons they sent me to our home address. That is $20 plus savings there for both items.
Dried fish, dried anchovy or dried squid are salty yet it’s every Filipino’s craving and favorite wherever they may be in the world. When you are far from your home country and have been away for so long, you can’t help but long to eat this dried stuff for the poor.
Dried fish is treated like “gold” because it is not always available in certain parts of the country, in the USA, for example. Not everyone can buy this at the Asian store or they live out in the country area.
I consider myself lucky because I can get to visit my home country every two years and each time I come back here in the US, I make sure I bring a kilo or two of my favorite variety of dried fish. Although, we don’t live far from the Asian store, I don’t buy their stuff. They are products from the Philippines, yes, but they are too salty plus they are too expensive. For an anchovy in small pack that is not even 1/4 of a kilo it’s $9. Imagine that.
So here, have a taste of my fried anchovy and dried danggit. I’ve had it for several months trying to forget it’s in the refrigerator so it can last until next year.
