Halter dresses are a very cute choice, but they’re often considered seasonal. Very few people want to wear a halter dress in cold weather for obvious reasons. They’re stylish, but they don’t do much to keep you warm. However, if you have a halter dress in your wardrobe you’re sad to see left behind for cooler weather, don’t despair. Pulling off a halter dress in the winter is just a matter of careful accessorization. With proper outfit assembly, you can keep it working nearly year-round.
The first rule of seasonal dress is layering. Most dresses work just fine with an appropriate coat over them. This has the added benefit of being easily removable when you move indoors. This has the drawback of making it less-than-obvious that your dress is a halter dress, but often this is all it takes to let you survive the trip out.
Next up is scarves. For cooling days in autumn, sometimes all you need to accessorize a halter dress is a good scarf. Scarves aren’t as thorough at keeping you warm as jackets, but they do a lot to keep your neck and shoulders warm, which is where your dress fails in this regard. Finding a matching scarf is an excellent option.
Universally, tights allow dresses to work out-of-season much more easily. A good pair of tights is priceless. If you can find a set that keep you warm while still being stylish, you’re absolutely golden for future wardrobe enhancement.
These are just the basics, but with proper outfit assembly, there’s no such thing as clothes for summer only!
